Toxic Tort Practice Area Summary

Our firm has been heavily involved in the defense of a wide variety of toxic tort matters for over 25 years. We have been and continue to be retained by a wide variety of manufacturers, their insurers and others, on a local, regional and national basis. Our toxic tort practice is varied. We represent clients in matters involving asbestos, lead paint, latex gloves and a wide variety of other, less publicized allegedly toxic substances. To aid in defending our clients, our staff includes a physician and a nurse paralegal. This aids in developing defenses based upon the etiology of the various diseases claimed by plaintiffs and impeachment of plaintiff experts.

Of particular interest in today’s litigation climate is the ongoing asbestos litigation. We represent and have represented a wide array of clients in this area. These include manufacturers of wallboard, insulation and other construction materials; brake liner manufacturers; industrial equipment manufacturers; various distributors of asbestos-containing products; and landlords, including a major theatre chain. Our firm has been involved in the asbestos litigation virtually since its inception, and we have developed beneficial working relationships with all of the major "players." Internally, we have developed streamlined procedures to ensure an aggressive but cost-effective defense of all asbestos matters. This is of particular significance in this area, given the volume of matters and the needs of our clients.
