The Complex Tort Group was formed in response to the expansion of multi-defendant cases. These cases generally involve high profile matters including disasters including railroads, maritime and fire/explosion casualties. Our group has expertise in Risk Management and analyzing the insurance needs of self-insurance plans of major corporations and assist in the defense of these cases. We have successfully defended clients in actions including those brought: Consortium of Nuclear Utilities U.S. Attorneys Office (Southern District of N.Y.) National Transportation Safety Board Consumer Products Safety Commission Attorney General of the State of New York Major cases have included: Defense of product manufacturers in catastrophic fire resulting in 87 deaths (Happyland Social Club Fire) Long Island Railroad Massacre Empire State Building Shooting Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade case Case venues have included: New York Pennsylvania Connecticut Federal District Courts in New York and Delaware
